New Jersey Education Association

The New Jersey Education Association (NJEA), founded in 1853, is one of the nation’s largest and most influential public school employee unions. With a proud history of over 170 years, NJEA advocates for New Jersey’s public school educators, Educational Support Professionals (ESPs), preservice, and retired members. The organization works to improve salaries, benefits, job security, and working conditions for its members while also championing safe, well-resourced, and equitable schools for all students across the state.

Guided by its mission to protect members’ rights and promote quality public education, NJEA is a democratic, member-driven organization committed to excellence in education. Through professional development, policy advocacy, and strong organizing efforts, the Association strengthens its membership and supports its affiliates. NJEA’s work ensures that both educators and students have the tools and opportunities needed to thrive in New Jersey’s public schools.
