In 1948, Leon Pratt recognized a challenge facing local apple growers: wooden crates were heavy, costly, and inefficient for transporting produce. His innovative solution — a sturdy yet lightweight cardboard box — marked the beginning of Visy in Shepparton, Victoria, at the heart of Australia’s fruit-growing region.

From those origins, Visy has continually advanced, developing packaging solutions made from recycled materials and forging strong partnerships with customers to support their iconic brands. From producing Australia’s first milk bottle containing 50% recycled plastic to creating glass bottles made with 90% recycled content, sustainability has always been at the core of our business.

Today, our vision is clear: to be the global leader in sustainable packaging solutions for a better world. To achieve this, we are investing more than $2 billion in transforming recycling and remanufacturing infrastructure — enabling more recycling, reducing landfill, and creating thousands of new green-collar jobs.
