Established in 1822, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office has a long-standing commitment to serving and protecting the citizens of Clay County, including the communities within its borders. Under the leadership of Sheriff Will Akin, elected in November 2020 and sworn in January 2021, the office continues to evolve through its guiding mission: Embrace Change…Create Value…Inspire Others. This mission reflects a proactive approach to public safety, emphasizing accountability, service excellence, and progressive thinking.
We recognize that change is essential to meet the growing and shifting needs of our community. By creating value through integrity, reliability, and public trust, we ensure that every action we take contributes to a safer and stronger Clay County. Just as importantly, we strive to inspire, from within our ranks and across the county, fostering a culture of pride, responsibility, and empowerment. Together, we work to uphold a legacy of service while building a better future for all who call Clay County home.
